In the likelihood you need a good reason to engulf those Halloween or Valentine’s day leftover sweets the American magazine Psychology Today has put a list of them, just in time for the holidays. As a matter of fact, it looks like candies and sweets are good both for the heart and your mood.
Released on October 25 (just before Halloween!), the magazine has revealed some of the benefits associated with eating candies and other types of sweets, all based on scientific data!

1. People who eat sweets tend to live longer than others. Indeed, Havard recently published a study that was carried over several decades showed that people who ate candies a couple of times per month lived longer than others.
2. According to a study done in 2007 at the University of Florida, a little bit of sugar allow you to gain more concentration and willpower.
3. Chewing on gum can improve your mood, reduce your stress, improve your concentration skills and even decrease pain. This is because chewing gum increase your level of serotonine, which is a well-known contributor to “feelings of well-being”.
4. Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, reduce the risks of cardiovascular disease. The American National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute has published a study where they analyzed the chocolate eating habits of 5000 adults. Adults who ate chocolate 5 times per week had almost 60% less incidence of heart disease. Another study, a German one this time, published in the European Heart Journal, has shown that eating chocolate moderately was good to control blood pressure.
