So mother nature hasn’t been very generous with the amount of sun this week (or month…). A rainy day doesn’t have to become a boring day for the family. There are plenty of things and activities to be done, sun, no sun.  These activities can not only be fun, but educative as well! If you are falling short on ideas to do this rainy day, here are a few suggestions that might bring some sunshine into your day!


Top 10 Things to Do on a Rainy Day (wherever you are)

1. Go to the mall

Adults – Go out with some girl friends and spend the day at the mall. Do some real or window shopping. Spend time with your pals, enjoy a cup of coffee and your favorite pastry. We bet the cloudy day won’t seem as dark after a joyful day spent with your some old friends!
Family – Go to the mall, stop by the pet store. Good day, bad day, children enjoy looking at animals. Admire the puppies and kittens, observe the fishes and the lezards. Then share an ice cream!

2. Read some books

Adults – Go to the library, to the bookstore or simply finish that book that has been sitting on your desk for months…
Family – Pick some books the family can share together. Read aloud with your children, make funny noises. Not only you will have plenty of fun, but you will also help your children improve on their reading skills!

3. Go to the theatre or rent movies

Adults – When was the last time you treated yourself to a good action or drama movie? You sure won’t be spending this ugly day by the beach, so why not catch the latest title at the theatre, or rent that movie your friend has assured you is “A MUST SEE”.
Family – Pick a movie the whole family can watch. There are lots of family movies and animated movies out there, that will please young kids, teenagers and even adults. Think Up!, Toy Story or even classics such as The Princess Bride or The NeverEnding Story.

4. Go out in the rain

Adults – Have you ever noticed how peaceful and even romantic it is to walk by the seawall on a rainy day? Waterproof yourself and go for a brisk walk you will not regret!
Family – Put your raincoat on and your rainboots and get ready for some fun puddle jumping! Catch those precious moments on camera.

5. Play some board games

Adults – We bet you probably haven’t sit down and played a game of chess, dames or Monopoly in years. Call some friends or relatives and rediscover the fun of board games.
Family – Board games or even video games! Board games or video games such as Wii games are great ways for the family to bond together.

6. Organize a play date

Adults – Have your friends over. Have a potluck and renew with some old friends.
Family – Great for both parents and kids. While kids are having a great time, parents have time to relax and unwind.

7. Draw

Adults – Surprise your best friend or your other half with a hand drawn picture of the most memorable picture of you two!
Family – Drawing doesn’t have to be restricted to a 8.5 X 11 inches piece of paper. Open an old cardboard box and draw a full scale size version of your little one, and let them draw a full scale size version of you. Then create a story and a play.

8. Take on a new skill

Adults – Nothing else to do? Have you ever dreamed of learning to play the guitar or how to paint? This is the perfect moment to start.
Family – Sit down with your little ones and create something fun. Build together your own board game, create a paint or a collage.

9. Museums

Adults – Go to the art gallery down the street, the one that you’ve been planning to visit since… last year! Or attend that latest Pharaoh exhibition that is in town for a short time only!
Family – A great way to have fun and to learn is museums. There are plenty of museums that will bring interest for the whole family, with interactive activities, talks and tons of things to see. Science museums are usually the most popular, but there are plenty of other interesting museums out there.

10. Bake

Adults – Impress your coworkers or family with your latest carrot zucchini cake recipe… Make some yummilicious cupcakes.
Family – Create a train made out of chocolate cake, decorate gingerbread cookies, baking is not only fun for the taste buds, but also to the eyes!
