The difference between a single player game and a multiplayer game is the number of players that get to play the game. In a multiplayer game, several players can simultaneously play together. They can either compete against each other, form teams and compete against each team or play as a single team against the computer or an AI.

The widespread adoption of the Internet has allowed multiplayer games to flourish and we now found hundreds, if not thousands of them. Here’s the top 10 multiplayer games of 2010. So we created a poll to determine what multiplayer games our readers like the most. Overall, a good game must have a balanced play, have replayability (or in other words, be somewhat addictive) and to constantly create new challenges.

So after one month and hundreds and hundreds of responses, needless to say that we receive many names, but some of the games were more recurrent. So this is our readers’ top 10 multiplayer games of all times.

	StarCraft This real time strategy game challenges the player to gather resources and build a base in order to become a powerful a powerful empire with a strong army to destroy any opponent. No wonder why this action-filled, fast-paced, strategic game still draw people 12 years after its release! Named Greatest Game of All Time by GameSpot, fans are now impatiently waiting for the sequel, due for release on July 27th of 2010! And, keep it a secret, but based on the beta we had access to, Starcraft II is definitely the next gen in the multiplayer game. Everyone know, when Blizzard is up to something, it can take time, but oh boy if it’s not perfect, it’s darn closed!
	Half Life Critics are gamers agree : this game is easily the more intense game they’ve ever played and experience. Like reviewers James C. Says, as far as action games go, this is THE game to own. Fight the half-monsters and discover the numerous plots twists and surprises. A story so immersive you’ll forget it is just a game!
	Warcraft III Only the ruthless survive in Warcraft III. Another hit by Blizzard. Warcraft III will simply consume your waking hours with the veracity of the most evil predator. In need of a quick RTS fix? This epic game may be what you are looking for!
	Age of Empires II Battle your foes in the age of kings and queens. Probably the most well polished and balanced real-time strategy game ever made. Age of Empires II is a true classic, and while it is true that the graphics are not exactly dazzling, the level of fun will get you playing for hours at the time.
	Diablo II Not surprinsingly Diablo II is another hit by Blizzard Entertainment. This game has a brilliant diabolical storyline and fantastic music and sounds effects. The cooperative multiplayer mode is incredibly addictive. If you are looking for replaybility, the random dungeons offers all you need. Attention, side effects of the game may cause addiction with loss of sleep!
	Tribes 2 Our readers have applaud both the quality of gaming offered by Tribes and Tribes 2, but the sequel leads with a strong unanimity over the original game. Good graphics, excellent gameplay with tons of complex and varied strategies and tactics is what makes this multiplayer game one of the best on the market.
	Battlefield 1942 Love those WWII FPS and multiplayer games? If you’ve tried Call of Duty and Medal of Honour, give you a quick in the chin for not trying earlier Battlefield 1942. Some people even compare it to the Grand Theft Auto of WWII FPS games! And for less than the cost of a night at the arcade, this game is a real bargain.
	Unreal Tournament Looking for FPSs with realistic environments and a mind-bogglingly gameplay with good graphics? Try Unreal Tournament, which surprised us by surpassing every Quake. With a total of 2.5% of all votes, Total Annihilation is our number 10. This is what hooked many to RTS. Great music, fun strategies and mechanics, fantastic UI, this multiplayer game was with no doubt ahead of its time.
	Counter Strike Frustrating at times for beginners and newbies, Counter-Strike is the ultimate FPS game once you’ve mastered the functions. Set up around the premise of terrorists vs counter-terrorists, this is a must have item for PC and XBOX FPS gamers. A fun game that never gets out of style!
